CBA Lecture: Disclosure

Virtual Seminar – Zoom
Wednesday 21st July
18.00 – 19.00

Speakers:
Duncan Atkinson QC, Senior Treasury Counsel and Barrister at 6KBW.

Josephine Teale, Barrister at 23 Essex Street speaking on the practical role of acting as a disclosure junior in large cases.

The disclosure of unused material in criminal cases remains a crucial part of a fair trial and is essential to avoiding miscarriages of justice.

In February this year, the Attorney General and Lord Chancellor launched a public consultation on the revised versions of the Attorney General’s Guidelines on Disclosure for investigators, prosecutors and defence practitioners (‘the Guidelines’) and the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 (‘CPIA’) Code of Practice.  The subsequent paper produced by the Attorney General office but is not yet in force can be accessed here.

This talk will examine those revisions.

There will be the opportunity for the audience to ask questions.

1 accredited hour of CPD is available for attending this seminar.

The seminar will be recorded.

Introduced by Tracy Ayling QC – Education Director.
