Young Bar seminar on ‘Managing your finances during a crisis’
Wednesday 24 June
17:30 to 18:30 via Zoom.
Organised by the Young Barristers’ Committee for young barristers, the free-of-charge seminar will address how self-employed and employed barristers can best manage their income and maximise financial security. This seminar is applicable to all members of the young bar, including those at the publicly funded bar who live brief fee to brief fee with no idea of when they will get paid, to those who have steady source of income and are looking to set themselves up financially.
The seminar will also look at the current financial hardship going on at the junior end of the Bar in light of the Covid-19 crisis and offer tips on how to best navigate the situation.
The seminar will cover topics on:
- How to set up your finances
- How to keep afloat when your income sinks
- Options for financial support;
- Government schemes available to support self-employed barristers;
- How chambers can support young barristers;
- Rebuilding and preparing for the next crisis (including budgeting).
