Youth Justice Legal Centre Summit 2021: Bias. Discrimination. Fear.

This year will be another opportunity to bring together all those who work so tirelessly in this undervalued sector. We hope to share knowledge, circulate innovation, and develop practice by identifying the bias, discrimination and fear children experience within the criminal justice system – and that our Summit will be one step towards defeating it.

The day will be comprised of five devoted sessions, on: Race, Girls, Kids (age), Fear and Class. Join YJLC for any or all of the sessions which will take place at various times throughout the day.

The call to action for the day is ‘defeating discrimination for children in the youth justice system’.

Speakers include: The Rt Hon The Baroness Hale of Richmond, Rt Hon David Lammy MP, Baroness Helena Kennedy QC, Professor Emerita Geraldine Van Bueren QC, Professor Ann Skelton, Professor Sarah-Jayne Blakemore, and Dave Merritt.

Additional speakers and timings will be announced in the coming weeks.

This year’s Summit is free of charge and taking place on 25th March.

Visit YJLCSummit2021.eventbrite.co.uk for further details and to register for your place. YJLC would love if you could join them to determine how they can help defeat discrimination for children within the youth justice system. You will hear from leading experts from across the globe on how they have developed tools to confront discrimination in order to represent children better.
